- The company finalizes the agreement signed last March with SACMEX to donate part of the water supply from two concession wells.
Mexico City, May 19, 2023 – Coca-Cola FEMSA officially connected one of its water wells to the public network of Mexico City’s Water System (SACMEX) to provide water to 15,000 residents of the Atlampa neighborhood in Mexico City. The connection of a new well will be carried out next week, and it be added to the current one so that each one will carry 20 liters per second to the population, 24 hours a day.
To formalize the water contribution, Rafael Bernardo Carmona Paredes, General Coordinator of SACMEX, Victor Bourguett Ortiz, from the National Water Commission, and Catherine Reuben Hatounian, Director of Corporate Affairs of Coca-Cola FEMSA MĂ©xico, met at the well located in the CuauhtĂ©moc mayor’s office to open the water outlet for the benefit of the population.
“We are committed to actions in favor of the community, especially to contributing to the water security of Mexico City and bringing a vital resource to the population. Next week we will connect a second well, reinforcing this contribution, and we know that it will bring important benefits to the population”, said Catherine Reuben.
This initiative is the result of the agreement signed with SACMEX last March when they began to connect both wells with the public drinking water network, being one of the 150 community actions that are part of Coca-Cola FEMA’s comprehensive sustainability strategy.
With the mission of generating economic and social value, Coca-Cola FEMSA endorses its commitment to protect water resources, supported by three pillars: promoting the efficient use of water in bottling plants, collaborating so that communities have access to water and sanitation, and drive replenishment.
