Merida, Yucatan, July 18th, 2018.- Coca-Cola FEMSA, the largest bottler in the Coca-Cola system by sales volume worldwide, was recognized by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA in Spanish) with the âEnvironmental Excellenceâ distinction, the highest recognition granted by the environmental authority.
This recognition is given to companies that promote better environmental conservation practices as well as a sustainable impact on the environment. It is granted exclusively to work centers certified with the Environmental Performance Level 2 (EPL2) and to those that show the best environmental practices.

The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA in Spanish) awarded the Environmental Excellence recognition to the Coca-Cola FEMSA plants in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas; Toluca and Reyes in the State of Mexico; Morelia in MichoacĂĄn and Apizaco in Tlaxcala, for their commitment to the conservation of the environment and the promotion of a sustainable Mexico.
Additionally, the companys 17 manufacturing centers in Mexico have been recognized for maintaining the Zero Waste standard, which means that all their waste is recycled and reused; they also incorporate better practices for clean energy management and efficient water use.
